Position: Organic Farm Crew
Farm: Nutrient Dense Farm

Location: Upper Squamish Valley, BC
Accom: Nutrient Dense has limited accommodations, must be full-time crew member to utilize accommodation. Nutrient Dense can accommodate a self sufficient van and/or a small trailer.

NUTRIENT DENSE FARM is a certified organic, bio-dynamic farm based in the heart of the Upper Squamish Valley.

We currently farm two plots of leased land, one at the Queen of Peace Monastery and our home plot still in the early development phase of its farming evolution. Our model promotes, and educates about regenerative agriculture, soil and plant health, environmental stewardship, biodynamic preparations, nutrition, KNF organic farming methods and working with astrological energies to promote a holistic farming experience for all involved!

Our Farm Crew is important and valued part of our farm, the crew participates in all aspects of the farm from washing Rubbermaids, sowing trays, bed prep, harvesting, sorting/washing, packing veg for CSA's, irrigation, weeding with hand tools & by hand, pruning tomatoes, composting, assisting with moving tunnels, haying, operating walk behind tractors, customer service, early morning farmers market set up, to selling. We are seeking individuals that are hard-working, reliable and can commit to a full season. We value a crew of energetic folks who are driven in creating a healthy, efficient, organized, respectful environment. Who have a passion and love for the land and a will/drive to keep small scale agriculture growing in this world.​

Responsibilities & Qualifications we are seeking in our farm crew​

  • Experience in methods of organic/regenerative vegetable cultivation
  • Knowledge of farm tools and machinery used in intensive vegetable production (Jiang seeders, walk-behind tractor and implements)
  • Comfortable working outside in all conditions
  • Physically fit with ability to lift heavy loads (50+lbs)
  • Strong organizational, respectful communication skills giving and receiving feedback
  • Strong work ethic with ability to plan and complete tasks efficiently and without supervision.
  • Detail oriented, efficient, and production focused, with a focus on quality.
  • Able to work as a team environment and self motivated when working independently
  • Can maintain a positive attitude despite the adverse conditions that face all farmers: mud, bugs, heat, rain, etc
  • Takes initiative in looking for ways to improve systems and improving efficiency.
  • Overall good health, physical and mental endurance, farming can be extremely strenuous on back, knees, hips and wrists with long days working in all types of weather conditions
  • Capable of carrying out tasks which require bending for long periods of time
  • Able to lift and carry 40+ lbs
  • Flexible schedule and hours with the willingness to put in a longer day if necessary. (weather dependant we do split shifts, start early, break, work late)
  • Showing up for work on time and prepared with appropriate gear (water, hat, footwear, sun protection, rain gear, gloves, knee pads, lunch, etc.)
  • MUST have reliable means of transportation (Nutrient Dense is located 15-20 minute drive outside of Squamish)
  • Must be okay with working out of cell range
  • Canadian Citizen and/or are legally able to work in Canada
  • Fluent in English
  • No pets dogs/cats, etc., we are a working farm with working guardian animals.
  • Preferably at least One Season of production based farm experience, tree planting, landscaping, some type of physical labour job​

Compensation and Time Commitment

The starting wage for all staff in their first season at Nutrient Dense Farm is $19-$23/hr, depending on farming experience. All staff receive 4% vacation pay and access to amazing veggies within reason for your personal consumption. Raises are generally given with returning staff that require less training and/or taking on more responsibility.

​Nutrient Dense has one full-time position starting April 1st. All other full-time and part-time positions start beginning of May. Full-time positions are 5 days a week 40+ hours, part-time positions are 3-4 days a week 30+ hours. Must be able to commit to full season.
