About the Farm

It’s Giving Farm is an ecological farm located at the northern tip of Rouge National Urban Park east of Stouffville, Ontario, just 1 hour outside Toronto. We cultivate a diverse range of annual vegetables and cut flowers on 5 acres, employing organic and regenerative practices with a four-wheel tractor and simple hand tools. Our produce is distributed through farmers markets, a CSA program, and to various restaurants and small grocers across the GTA. Learn more about us here.

About You

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team for the 2025 season. Ideal candidates are passionate about local food and eager to contribute to a small-scale, high-production vegetable farm. Both field and market positions require physical and mental stamina, including the ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly and work long, active days in all weather conditions. We value hard work, efficiency, and attention to detail. You should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Success here means working quickly, communicating effectively, and taking ownership of your role. We’re looking for team members who appreciate the challenges and rewards of farming and can find humor in the hard parts.

Available Positions

1. Field Crew (Full-Time & Part-Time)

• Positions: 1 Full-Time, 1 Part-Time
• Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (adjusting to 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM during hot weather)
• Breaks: 2 x 10-minute rests, 45-minute lunch break
• Days: Monday - Friday (5 days for Full-Time, 3 days for Part-Time)
• Season: May - October
• Compensation: $20/hour
• Benefits:
  • Up to $250 work wear and supplies benefit
  • $350 personal care benefit
  • Free weekly CSA shares + flowers
• Responsibilities:
  • Assist with various farm tasks: greenhouse seeding, transplanting, trellising, pruning, weeding, cultivating, and laying materials (amendments, compost, sandbags, row cover, irrigation).
  • Help with small building projects, bed preparation, and general farm cleanup.
  • Harvest, wash, and pack produce efficiently.
  • Safely and effectively use tools and machinery.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Background & Skills:
  • Previous farm experience is preferred, but we’re open to the right candidate.
  • Experience with outdoor or physical labor (landscaping, bussing tables) is a strong asset.
  • Reliable personal transportation is required.
  • Customer service experience is desired.
  • Knowledge of vegetables and a passion for sharing that knowledge.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

2. Market Crew (Part-Time)

• Positions: 3 Part-Time
• Hours: 7:30 AM - 2:00 PM
• Days: Saturdays OR Sundays, approximately 7 hours per day, 1-2 days per week.
• Season: May - October
• Compensation: $18/hour
• Benefits: $30 worth of veggies + flowers per market day.
• Responsibilities:
  • Timely unloading of produce and market supplies.
  • Efficient setup, maintenance, and breakdown of market displays.
  • Accurate cash handling and change making.
  • Positive engagement with customers, vendors, and market staff.
  • Represent the farm professionally and with pride.
• Background & Skills:
  • Previous food/customer service experience is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of vegetables and a passion for sharing that knowledge.
