Position: Farmers' Market Engagement Coordinator
Type: age 30 & under / summer
Organization: Canadian Centre for Food and Ecology (CCFE)
Location: Toronto ON (in person, able to commute to the West End region)

The Canadian Centre for Food and Ecology (CCFE) is hiring three dynamic team members to support our exciting Flavour Harvest Markets Pilot! These roles are part of a larger effort to build community engagement, support local farmers, and promote food security through vibrant market experiences. About the Canadian Centre for Food and Ecology:

The Canadian Centre for Food and Ecology (CCFE) is a new national charity with a mission to inspire food decisions that nurture people and planet. About the Flavour Harvest Markets Project 2025:

The CCFE’s Flavour Harvest Markets Project will be an interactive experience at select farmers markets in Toronto this summer. Highlighting farmers’ markets as beacons of the Buy Local movement, this program connects farmers’ market goers with exciting taste-based activations, hands-on skills and knowledge building at the markets that elevate their experience. Positioning farmers markets as community hubs to connect producers, eaters, community food security programs, circular economy initiatives and sustainability measures, this program will foster community connections in new and fun ways. We’re seeking our Markets Project teammates to help us bring this program to life!

General Requirements for All Positions:

  • Must be between 15–30 years old at the start of employment
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection
  • Must have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Research skills and neighbourhood-based inquiry experience considered an asset

Compensation:

$26/hour for 35 hours per week from May 20th - Aug 31st

Work Schedule:

Some evening and weekend work is required. We will aim to provide consistent two-day breaks each week. (For example: if students work on Sundays, Friday–Saturday could be consistent days off.)

About You:

You’re a communications, marketing and/or engagement star, and your storytelling through content creation is rooted in authentic experiences that connect people to each other in meaningful ways. Your passion for community engagement and content creation shines through in how you connect the dots between online and in-person experiences. You thrive in the creative space and are excited about how to amplify and weave the threads of the local food movement together to connect people with their food.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Actively engage with the public at market events
  • Create and manage digital content for social media platforms
  • Capture and share stories from the market (photos, videos, written content)
  • Support marketing, outreach, and vendor promotion

Qualifications:

  • Strong storytelling and visual content creation skills
  • Digital media literacy and comfort with tools like Canva, Instagram, etc.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite
  • Availability for evening and weekend work
  • Friendly and community-minded

Assets:

  • Design or video editing experience
  • Food Handlers Certificate
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle (preferred but not required)

Experience:

  • Social media management or content creation
  • Community engagement or outreach
