End date: Approx. Oct./Nov.

Job Type: Part-time, Self-Employed Contract (6–7 months)
Pay: $20-25 per hour depending on experience
Availability: ~15-20 hours/week, flexible schedule, some weekends and evenings required

Are you passionate about gardening, community leadership, and food justice? New Grocery Movement (NGM) is hiring a Garden Club Coordinator to lead our 2025 Garden Club season. This is a hands-on, people-focused opportunity for someone who loves growing food, building community, and making a real impact.

About the Garden Club

The Garden Club is a cornerstone program of NGM, where local residents come together to grow their own food, share knowledge, and build a healthier, more sustainable food system. Learn more about the program here.


What You’ll Do

As a Garden Club Coordinator, you’ll be the heart of the garden. Your main role is to lead and support a community of around 15 gardeners through a productive and joyful growing season. Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating seasonal workshops and community gardening events
  • Helping each gardener plan and manage their own plot
  • Acquiring and maintaining garden tools and materials
  • Supporting general upkeep of shared garden spaces
  • Communicating updates to the NGM team
  • Capturing photos and content to share with our communications team

We’re Looking For Someone Who Is:

  • Experienced in gardening or garden planning/design
  • Organized and reliable, with strong project management skills
  • A strong communicator and proactive leader
  • Comfortable with outdoor work and safe tool use
  • Adaptable, flexible, and committed to community care

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Access to a vehicle for transporting tools and materials
  • Gardening or agricultural training
  • A passion for food justice, sustainability, or environmentalism
  • Background in community organizing
  • Experience leading diverse teams or groups
  • A degree in Food, Agriculture, Sustainability, or a related field
  • Physical capability to lift up to 40-50lb
